The Ultimate Surface. Why Dekton Sintered Stone Excels in Kitchen Design
An Engineered Stone by Cosentino
Dekton is an engineered surface that has been created under the brand name Cosentino, which also manufactures Silestone, one of the leading names in Quartz surfaces.
Manufacturing differences between Dekton and Quartz
Dekton, sintered stone and other porcelain-type slabs differ from Quartz in a number of ways, primarily in the way they are formed. The manufacturing process involves fusing natural materials such as quartz, glass, and porcelain under extreme pressure and heat.
Quartz surfaces are formed more simply by combining crushed quartz and polymer resins. This composition means that the material does not undergo the same intense sintering process as Dekton. While this simpler method makes Quartz extremely hard-wearing and stain-resistant due to the resin binder, it is also why it cannot achieve the same absolute heat resistance as the ultra-compact surface.

Superior Performance: Heat and Moisture Resistance
Although Quartz is the most popular choice of surface currently on the market, and is totally stain resistant, it will not perform as well as Dekton and other sintered stone when exposed to direct heat. Dekton is not only completely heat-resistant but is also impervious to liquids and oils, which makes it a great choice for kitchens and bathrooms alike.

Dekton Installation Showcase
Here are some recently completed Dekton installations.
This design called for some challenging and intricate mitred details to give the appearance of a seamless installation using Unuyi and was brought to us from our friends at www.andreapalmerinteriors.com.
Orix Installation
This Orix installation required some very accurate templating and radius work to create a beautiful walk-through kitchen area. The waterfall ends have been book-matched and polished in, to once again create that beautiful seamless effect
This project was brought to us from our friends at https://www.ellaaustin.co.uk/
Taga Installation
This Taga installation perfectly mimics the appeal of Taj Mahal, a naturally occurring quartzite. These woktops have been created using 20mm slab material, which has been bonded to create this stunning, chunky look surface
This project was brought to us from our friends at https://www.ellaaustin.co.uk/
In general, these materials need to be viewed in full format to appreciate the overall patterning and tone and we hold many types at our showroom location for viewing. For slabs and materials not seen here or in our stocks, we will arrange visits to the main importers where entire ranges in full slab format can be seen.
Please feel free to come down to see us or send an inquiry through our Contact Us form so we can be part of your next project.
