Beyond customer service

Beyond customer service

‘Go the extra mile’ is one of our founding statements here at Surrey Marble and Granite. Our team apply it in many ways, some serious, some joking, but the principle it highlights is our commitment to our customers.

As expert stone workers supplying both individuals and other building contractors, we quickly realised that the market was awash with customers who had had disappointing experiences. As well as a few cowboy builders and fraudsters who have no intention of providing good value for money, there are many businesses and contractors who are spread too thin, asking skilled plasterers to turn to basic plumbing or vice versa.

For us, standing out in this crowd was simple: we would commit to one field and do it right. Resisting the urge to have a finger in many pies, we would stick to our original goals and make the best kitchen worktops we can. In the 30 years since our company was founded, our expertise has grown and we’ve expanded: we do more work directly for domestic clients, and we work with a wider range of stones, particularly new engineered stones, like Silestone, and we have customers across Surrey and far beyond. But we haven’t branched out into areas we can’t master: no wood turning in this stone workshop!

What does this mean for you?

When you place an order at Surrey Marble and Granite, whether it’s for a small batch of granite tiles or an extensive Silestone floor, you’ll get expert help and support at every step of the way. Our full-service stone workshop can provide advice at every stage, from design and style choices through stone selection to project management tips and fitting advice.

We’re proud of our workshop, and are happy to show you around. In fact, we’d love it if you came down for a cup of tea as we find it’s so much easier to show off different finishes, edgings and stones in person. While the internet is a great place to comparison shop, a photo doesn’t do justice to the almost translucent beauty of fine marble or the bright colours of a processed stone like Silestone.

Make use of our expertise

We don’t expect our customers to know the first thing about stone – that’s our job. It helps if you know what you like, what your budget is and when you’d like the project complete, but we can work with just one of those, if necessary. We’re ready to provide all the other information you need to make a good choice.

As we work with stone everyday, our team know their marble from their Silestone, their polished finish from their country, and can explain why a granite tile that makes a great bathroom floor might be less than ideal for a kitchen worktop. Our goal is to fully understand your project so we can provide the best stone for you at the best price.

I recently stumbled across an amazing artist who works solely in slate! The nature of the shape of slate creates stunning visual effects in terms of shadow and light. The image shows Alan Turing, who “did more than any other to make possible the breaking of the German Enigma codes at the secret Station X at Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire.”. On his website http://www.stephenkettle.co.uk, Stephen explains that the process takes a great deal of time, an average of 60 hours per week! He goes on to say that this process […]

In the past fifteen years, more people have shown interest in granite for many reasons. Granite is an ideal material for use not only in the home, but in the commercial industries as well. Why Granite? Granite is a naturally occurring stone found all over the world which has been used in the construction industry for years. Granite is the hardest of all natural stones used commercially, second only to diamonds, and is the perfect choice for a worktop in your kitchen. For those that use their kitchens often such […]

Stone is the best choice, whether you’re looking at beautiful period fireplaces or modern minimalist designs. New fireplaces use stones like marble and granite for the same reasons our distant (and not so distant) ancestors did: stone is heat resistant; doesn’t catch fire; doesn’t weather or change colour due to contact with heat or fire; is easy to clean; and can withstand knocks and bumps from logs, coal buckets and other equipment. But with the wide range of stones available, from granite to quartz, which should you choose? Which part […]
