Marble is a non foliated metamorphic rock basically made from a metamorphic form of limestone, which is largely made of calcite. The name marble is given because it refers to stone that can be highly polished. It derives from the Ancient Greek μάρμαρον (mármaron) or μάρμαρος (mármaros), "crystalline rock", "shining stone.
The Uses of Marble
Marble is used for a variety of things including building, monuments and memorial stones. There several types of marble that are formed in different colours and come from different origins. White marble is the choice made for most sculptures probably because not only does white look the best for this but it also has a softer make up and yet it is resistant to shattering.

You will also find marble being used in the construction industry. Chinese Crystal White Marble is just one example of construction marble.
Work tops are often made from marble. They are considered a very beautiful kitchen or bathroom accessory and as well as being beautiful, they come in a range of colours, patterns and are durable.
Though work tops are found more in a kitchen, you may find them in large bathrooms. It’s more likely though to find tiles in a bathroom be them on the floor or on the wall. Again, they add beauty and class to any bathroom floor or wall and are also a fitting accessory to the kitchen.
There is another place you may find marble within a home. If you go into a house that has a very elegant fire place, you might find that there is marble involved. The mantels are made with marble because they are fit for the purpose and extremely beautiful.
Although granite is also a favourite for all the uses above, marble has an elegance that is not as apparent in granite despite its natural beauty. Both materials are totally gorgeous mind, and if you can use either in your home decor, you should.
